DR
ROBYN PORTER played by JOY CHAMBERS
Dr
Robyn Porter first arrived at the Albert as Dr Denham's Medical
Assistant, sharing an office with Helen Gordon. When her ex husband
Richard Quinlan arrived at the hospital he tried to rekindle their
romance, but Robyn was not interested. She was later accused of
his murder after she pushed him into Ben Fielding's swimming pool
during an argument. Quinlan hit his head and drowned.
Robyn
had another guilty secret - her paraplegic brother, Guy, blamed
her for the car crash that left him in a wheelchair. When Helen
Gordon was left trapped in her car after a crash, Robyn was unable
to help and left her helpless at the scene.
Robyn
finally found happiness with Ben Fielding, but their relationship
had to overcome many barriers. Firstly, Ben's goddaughter Annabel
tried everything to split them up, including bringing a false witness
to their wedding, so that the marriage was invalid. They then argued
over work, before leaving the Albert to marry for real and start
a new life together.
Joy
Chambers got her first break at 17 when she won the title of
Miss Beach Girl in Queensland. This led to modelling work and a
screen test with Channel Nine in Brisbane.
Taking
acting classes she landed her first serious role in The Restless
Years, and then starred in the film All At Sea. Following her stint
in The Young Doctors, she joined the cast of Possession, before
becoming wealthy businesswoman Rosemary Daniels in Neighbours.
In 1992
Joy published her first novel, Mayfield. Since then she has written
a number of other historical romances. Joy is married to Reg Grundy.
