DR
GREG MASON played by MARK HOLDEN
Dr
Greg Mason was a new intern at the Albert when The Young Doctors
began.
He was
young and rash, but forced to re-evaluate his attitude when he lost
a patient. Greg was also a bit of a womaniser, so it was quite a
surprise to everyone when he started to date plain nurse Julie Warner.
He didn't
stay at the Albert for too long, preferring to try his luck in the
US, where he became a highly paid plastic surgeon. Greg returned
briefly to the hospital as a special guest to mark the show's 1000th
episode.
Mark
Holden was born in Adelaide. While studying for a Law degree
he took a job as a singing barman to supplement his income. Before
long, he had given up the course and become a teenage sensation
as a top selling pop star, and host of music shows such as Target.
He released 5 albums between 1975 and 1983.
When
Dr Mason left the Albert for the US, Mark also went to America to
seek out fame and fortune. He stayed in LA for 17 years, writing
songs that were covered by Gladys Knight and The Pips, Joe Cocker
and Meatloaf.
Mark
has since returned to Australia.
