DR CHRIS PIPER played by BARTHOLOMEW JOHN

Dr Chris Piper was a likable womaniser. He dated many of the hospital staff, leaving behind a trail of broken hearts.

His failed romance with Ada's niece, Lisa Brooks led to her departure from the Albert. He had an affair with a married woman, Kate Rhodes, and ended up in a fight with her husband. After a rocky start to their relationship, he fell for mousy nurse Jeanette Palmer, but she died of leukaemia. His only true love faired little better. Just before his marriage to nurse Kim Barrington, she was gunned down and killed in the hospital car park.

Bartholomew John was born in New Zealand, and started out studying agriculture before moving to Australia to pursue a career in acting and singing.

After leaving The Young Doctors, he had a starring role as pilot Nick in Skyways. This was followed by appearances in Special Squad, GP, Over The Hill and Time Trax.

In the late 1990s he toured Australia with his former TYD co-star, Gwen Plumb, in Arsenic And Old Lace.

In more recent years Bartholomew has been working in the corporate work, training business people how to present themselves, and appearing in corporate videos.
