DR
ANDREW BAXTER played by ANDREW SHARP
Dr
Andrew Baxter had a soft heart, which often landed him in deep
water. As nurse Kim Barrington once observed: "Andrew, sometimes
you're too good for your own good." Dr Baxter was fiercely
protective of his younger brother, Luke. He was even arrested for
a murder he didn't commit after his car was taken by friends of
Luke and used in a hit and run. Andrew refused to believe that Luke
had been involved in the death (he was right) and wouldn't tell
the police who had taken his car. The mystery was eventually cleared
up and Luke went on to study law. Andrew Baxter fell for Tania Livingston,
Lisa Brooks and Kim Barrington, but was never particularly lucky
in love.
Andrew
Sharp has had a varied career, including a stint as Assistant
Director for the Australian Opera Company. He has also appeared
in Taurus Rising, numerous stage plays and The Children's Hour on
radio. In the early 80s he cropped up briefly on British TV in the
hit series Tenko, set in a women's POW camp in Singapore. During
his time on The Young Doctors he briefly dated Judy McBurney, who
played Tania Livingston.
